一九七六年生，湖北鐘祥市石牌鎮橫店村村民，因出生時倒產、缺氧造成腦癱，因此行動不便，高中畢業後賦閒在家。一九九八年開始寫詩，《詩刊》編輯劉年在她的博客上發現她的詩，驚豔她的詩中深刻的生命體驗，於二○一四年第九期刊發了她的詩，之後《詩刊》微信號又從中選發了幾首。農民，殘疾人，詩人，三種身分引爆了大眾對她的熱議，然而她卻對自己的出名感到意外，在博客中說自己的身分順序是女人、農民、詩人。「我希望我寫出的詩歌只是余秀華的，而不是腦癱者余秀華，或者農民余秀華的。」
內容簡介：
一位用詩歌書寫生命的鬥士！
作者是腦癱的農婦，寫字對她來說無異是一個不可能實現的夢想。她卻用最大力氣讓左手壓住右腕，把每一個字扭扭曲曲地寫出來。選擇字數最少的詩歌，向讀者傳達她與命運抗爭的心路歷程。
