Bergamot essential oil is extracted using cold pressing technique, from the nearly ripe fruit of the bergamot tree , also known as the Citrus bergamia. The bergamot tree is a result of the cross-breeding of lemon tree and orange tree, which explained why the bergamot has a pear-like shape and yellow color. Although its roots can be traced back to South East Asia, bergamot was widely cultivated in the Southern part of Italy, specificallyin the coastal regions of Reggio di Calabria ans Sicily.
