This a popular Foochow herbal soup called Bak Ting or Pek Tin Yok (八珍湯) which is translated literally as “Eight Herbs Soup”.

As the name suggested, this Eight Herb Soup has 8 different types of herbs and spices, and generally slowed boiled with chicken meat or with pork leg. 

It’s considered to be a traditional nutritional supplement.

This dish is normally eaten with Mee Sua, or just with plain white rice.

Legend has it that this soup was served to Chinese Emperors to prolong their life vitality and longevity.
