Molasses is a viscous by-product of the processing of cane sugar or sugar beets into sugar. The word Molasses comes from the Portuguese word melaco, which ultimately comes from Mel, the Latin word for "Honey". Molasses Sugar is well known as a natural and nutritious sweetener made from natural sugar cane juice. Molasses Sugar is high in soluble solids, dextrin, peptic substances and colloidal components. Molasses is suitable for baking projects , such as cookies, cakes, breads, cereals, sauces, spreads, dressings, meat rubs, bakedbeans and other products where flavour, sweetener and colour are required. The most important benefit of molasses is its high mineral content. Most sweeteners are white because they've been stripped of all natural goodness. Organic Molasses is dark in color because it contains the concentrated goodness of sugar cane.
