內容簡介：
種樹看貓聽麻雀，是日常
寫字睡覺走天涯，是療傷
一隻麻雀可以解放淚水，一棵樹足夠成為生活的宇宙軸心，一場旅行能認清自己的身分。鍾怡雯逃離只有夏季的熱帶雨林國度，來到四季分明的臺灣紮根生活，彷彿「兩處皆我家」，但又「皆是異鄉客」，這身分猶如黃昏介與白天與黑夜般難以劃分。然而，遭逢母親在遠方離喪變故，日常生活軌道突陷灰色地帶，透過書寫療傷，她跳脫過去，真誠面對難以釐清的身分認同。
本書以尋常生活記事、思母心情的兩地書做為開端，其後藉著遠遊，展開三地對照。看樹令她安穩彷彿腳下生根，貓兒伏枝午睡，麻雀啁啾，鄰人送菜，隔壁卡啦OK深夜高唱，這是她中壢的家，黃昏的來臨浮起過往她與母親同煲電話景象，放假的端午節遙念已無人能做的粽香滋味，夜晚躡腳來臨的夢總使她想起預示母親死亡的預告夢。當平凡的家居已無法讓她安睡、渴望自由的慾望無法壓抑，她選擇將自己丟到世界的另一個角落，他方、中壢、油棕園的三方連線於是開啟，異鄉與在地的對照快速轉換，使她有另一層的體認。
還有更多的生死體悟，當時間和風景從身邊流過，無預警的告別，從時光縫隙裡掃出的塵埃與無數插曲，都在考驗著對生命的忍耐與妥協。
