樂曼女士對人深感興趣，高中時代就喜歡替報紙採訪和寫稿，大學主修新聞，並曾替報紙和年鑑工作。畢業後她結婚成家，成為作家、編輯，一手包辦了家族企業商界新聞達十年之久。在教書期間，她寫過數不清的課程單元。她擁有教育和人類成長的研究所學位。
樂曼著有《青少女媽媽：痛苦與承諾》（1997），該書直言，防治青少女懷孕絕對不是堅持「女孩說『不』」就辦得到。《青春嘿咻‧安全寶典》指出美國文化必須做哪些改變，才能幫助年輕人避免太早懷孕、感染性病或墮胎。
樂曼退休後仍然教導成人寫作。她和阿里結婚五十二年，有兩名子女和四個孫兒。
