這是一本講述關於異文化所可能產生的猜忌、互斥到互相認識對方的傳統、產生同理心，進而相互欣賞的故事。角色的設定充滿童話色彩，樹屋派對這個有趣的傳統也為閱讀的孩子帶來許多樂趣，畢竟有樹屋，就是會吸引孩子的目光吧！
條紋精靈住在樹屋，平常的生活就是吃吃三明治、唱唱歌，日子過得很優閒。條紋精靈有一個傳統，也就是不定時地舉辦樹屋派對。他們會穿上漂亮的傳統服裝，快快樂樂地唱歌跳舞，然後吃樹葉。這麼做的目的是為了祈求大樹開心的成長。因為下大雨，原本住在另一端的點點精靈暫時搬來和條紋精靈們一起住。點點精靈們住的是帳篷、吃的是餅乾。看見條紋精靈吃樹葉，還露出隱隱的嘲諷微笑。後來無意中大家分享了對方的食物，條紋精靈發現餅乾比樹葉好吃太多了，於是，請點點精靈教他們把餅乾做成樹葉的形狀，如此一來，樹屋派對要吃的樹葉成了美味的樹葉餅乾，條紋精靈也吃得很開心。條紋精靈也把自己的三明治作法分享給點點精靈們，點點精靈們也開始規畫著怎麼在自己的傳統節慶裡加入三明治。因為分享食物，原本互相不認識對方傳統文化的兩個族群，有了交流的機會，並且還開始欣賞起對方了呢！
故事最後，又出現了另一個方格子精靈，這又是另一個完全陌生的族群了。但是，條紋精靈和點點精靈也很自然地就接受這個新加入的夥伴──方格子精靈。
☆充滿童趣的角色與故事，為孩子展現了一個包容異己的溫馨友善情感。
