作者簡介：
梅淑貞
1949年生於檳榔嶼，祖籍廣東台山。
1974年畢業於吉隆坡拉曼學院商學系，任職會計師兼公司秘書。
除了寫詩，也寫小说、散文、雜文和翻譯。自1966年起寫作不輟，已發表文字超過三百萬，2015至2022年在《光明日報》發表長篇小說連載。1983至1985年任《蕉风》月刊主编。
著有詩集《梅詩集》（1972），散文集《人間集》（1985）和《前朝今朝》（2021），與牧羚奴合譯馬來詩人拉笛夫詩集《湄公河》（1973），合集《犀牛散文選》（1976）等。
內容簡介：
梅淑貞橫跨一甲子的詩作與詩觀選輯。
此書為馬來西亞資深作家梅淑貞的新詩和談詩的散文合集，也是「梅淑貞文選」系列叢書的第一本。
書分三輯，輯一〈尋詩初始〉收錄梅淑貞於1966-1978年間寫的二十首詩。
輯二〈紅樓尋詩〉收錄五十三篇文章，以散文的筆觸，談論中國經典小說《紅樓夢》一書裡頭的詩詞。
輯三〈我城舊事〉收錄十二首新詩，是梅淑貞2007年重回檳城家鄉後，有感而發，以詩為檳城老城區造像。
