珍妮．庫西尼爾（Jeanne Cuisinier, 1890-1964）
成長於布魯塞爾，後定居巴黎，是一位出色的民族學家，也是多才多藝的音樂家和作家。
1920年代初期，曾遊歷馬達加斯加，隨後在1926-1927年間去了印度支那。回法國後在民族學院進修，同時在巴黎東方語言學院學習馬來語。
1932年，被法國教育部派往馬來亞進行關於民族學和語言學的研究工作，並在當時的吉蘭丹蘇丹國逗留了18個月。之後，她輾轉東南亞各地，繼續她的研究。
走訪吉蘭丹蘇丹國期間，她收集了很多當地居民和土著的日常生活用品，以及大量照片和錄音檔。其中五百多件至今仍珍藏於法國國家自然歷史博物館（Museum National d‘Histoire Naturelle）和巴黎奎．布蘭利—雅克．希拉克博物館（Musee du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac）。
曾出版書籍《Danses Magiques de Kelantan》（吉蘭丹的神奇舞蹈）（1936）、《Le Theâtre d’Ombres a Kelantan》（吉蘭丹皮影戲）（1957）。
此書收錄的講義，是她曾經發表的演說。
內容簡介：
1935年6月，法國巴黎廣播電台開始播放一系列關於馬來亞的精彩講座，在當時那可是全法收聽率第一的電台。演講者珍妮．庫西尼爾小姐，是一位與眾不同的民族學家，一位思想獨立的科學家。她講得一口流利的馬來語，在馬來半島進行了將近兩年的實地考察研究，而其中的大部分日子她都待在吉蘭丹。
2018年，這些未被錄音的廣播講稿偶然重現，使我們有機會將其整理，在近百年後的今天出版成書，讀者除了有幸閱讀這些上世紀的珍貴文獻，也能透過作者的視角，穿越時空回到近百年前的馬來亞，感受及了解馬來友族同胞的風土民情。
