Kaiun Mishima, the founder of CALPISfirst discovered cultured milk when it was offered to himby the locals as a remedy for his weakened digestion during a trip to inner Mongolia for business. Inspired by the astounding taste and goodness of cultured milk, he returned to Japan with a mission to learn more about the benefits of cultured milk and devoted his time to developing a similar product, which led to the birth of CALPIS. A series of breakthrough researches led to the birthof CALPIS, Japan's first cultured milk since 1919.
CALPIS was introduced in Malaysia in the year 2016.
